Th organization was founded in 1996 to help alleviate the needs of children who are orphaned and/or made vulnerable as a result of HIV/AIDS and offers protection and care of the children, education, provision of trained teachers and also training/teaching resources and physical facilities at the Centre and School.

Currently Kisumu Children's Center and School caters to a population of 180 children annually. The organization is currently operated by voluntary support from 60 women and 50 men.

Formed in December 2003, the African Regional Youth Initiative (ARYI) works with over 400 youth and community-based organizations across Africa addressing development issues outlined in the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals- namely, poverty and hunger, HIV/AIDS and malaria, primary education, gender equity, child mortality, maternal health, and environmental sustainability. The work of ARYI is based on action plans developed by over twenty ARYI country and regional teams that are implemented at community, national, sub-regional and continental levels.

ARYI is comprised of organizations and individuals linked by ARYI Regional and Country Representatives, program coordinators and volunteer staff. All coordinate to disseminate program and policy information in order to form collaborations and create action plans addressing key development issues within and across African sub-regions. The Eastern Africa region includes the following territories:
